Stand in the Gap 2007
On Oct. 6 an estimated 20,000 men gathered near the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., to pray for their families, churches and nation as part of Stand in the Gap 2007. The event was held on the 10-year anniversary of the first Stand in the Gap, which made history as the largest gathering of men in modern history.
The event’s program had four phases based on the story of Nehemiah. Men were challenged to “return” to God, “remember” His attributes, “renew” their resolve to serve Christ and “rebuild” the broken areas of their lives.
The gathering also had an intergenerational theme. The day commenced with a prayer from 13-year-old Paolo Sossa and several “generational blessings” were given by representatives of each generation represented. Featured speakers included Marty Granger, Rick Rigsby, Joseph Garlington and Rick Kingham. The National Coalition of Men’s Ministry, the Washington Area Coalition of Men’s Ministries and Faith in the Family International organized the event. They plan to hold another Stand in the Gap on Oct. 7, 2017.

MORE REVIEW Even if National Treasure: Book of Secrets were not a sequel, the new film would still serve well as a stand-alone fable about the pursuit of wealth. Though the original revolved around Benjamin Gates (Nicholas Cage) protecting artifacts from modern-day pirates, the second film places its true treasure in family and reputation, an excellent illustration of Proverbs 22:1.
