None of these!
When will we quit blaming the world for the problems that exist, and realize that they are living the only way they know how to?
The greatest threat to Christianity period, not just here in America, is our own divisions within the Body of Christ and not being properly focused on and reaching the lost.
It seems the survey was an accurate representation to how I see things. It feels as if people searching for spirituality in every place but Christianity, is the trend (ex: yoga) and also complacency seems a threat as well. Not only for those who just don't want to accept their beliefs, but also those who do and have become stagnant in them. We should not just be saved and comfortable. We should be living for god everyday and making an impact to fulfill his commands and bring him his glory. Our mission is great and must not be treated as something to do after we get through OUR agenda. It is his will we must do, not our. God Bless!
I believe that the biggest threat to Christianity is the modern idea of Christianity. I have heard it said so many times, "Just say this prayer, and you are saved." This is unbiblical. Instead the Bible tells us to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. Our lifestyle is evidence of our salvation. If we don't see the effects of Christ in our lives, if we are not growing in holiness, we need to examine ourselves.
I think what you said Pastor Will is interesting. I'm reading Living you Faith by Charles Finney. He was a revivalist preacher in the 19th century and died by 1875. In this book he talks about Christians need to save sinners. He states that we need to explain that salvation is the gift of grace and that through accepting Jesus we are saved and so can they.
I would hope that once you are saved you don't just "backslide" to your old ways. But if you do, know that you should always repent and the Lord will start to root out the things that are bad and you shall, through sanctification, reflect Jesus. Of course you must have Faith in Christ.
Where is the button that says "All of the above."?

I believe that one of the main tragedies of 21st century Christianity is the fact that most mainline denominations are somewhat mute on the truth of a growing, ever-changing relationship with the Living God of the Universe made possible by the agonizing death and awe-inspiring resurrection of Jesus Christ. When people see the life-changing love of Him become a reality in them, a natural result is to share that love.
Hirelings are bad for the ministry.
Workaholics are also bad
Those who refuse elders like David's second in command who warned him not to number the troops.
Those who control too much are bad.
Those who do not trust the Holy Spirit to teach and guide the congregation.
Those who do not put their family first are bad.
Those who do not preach with love and tears in their voice are brass. Br. Sam
I truly believe the New
Age movement has infiltrated the organized church & they are believing the lie from hell - just read Matthew 24 & you will see New Age written all over it - they just hadn't coined the phrase/name to it - but I also believe it all of the above combined.
None of the above. The greatest threat to Christianity in North America will come from the Muslim faith. Yes, all the others listed are real problems, but given enough time, being an infidel in a fast growing Muslim world will be a real problem.
I disagree. Muslims are not they enemy. The Devil is. Muslims may be misled, but they are not the threat. With Christ all things are possible. With God for us who can stand against us? No one.
The Muslims are why we as Christians need to spread the Gospel and fulfill our mission from God. Ignorance and false prophets will lead people astray. Jesus is the light, the truth, and the answer.
NEW AGE FOR SURE:
When I began writing Reinventing Jesus Christ: The New Gospel in August 2001, I obviously had no idea that the tragic events of September 11, 2001 were about to take place. Because my book was to be a much needed update on the false Christ of the New Age Movement, I watched in amazement as key New Age leaders suddenly appeared on primetime television providing spiritual commentary regarding September 11th. Most viewers had no idea that these spiritual “experts” were really New Age leaders, and that their seemingly positive comments actually cloaked a New Age spiritual agenda—a Peace Plan founded upon cleverly repackaged New Age teachings. These reinvented New Age teachings were now being described as the “New Gospel” of a “New Spirituality.”
New Age leaders were all over the media after September 11th with their synchronized sound bites and spiritual analyses, emphatically declaring that terrorism is not to be defined by what people do, but by what they believe. They argued that terrorism is a spiritual problem that requires a spiritual solution. And while this statement is not untrue, their spiritual solution—a New Age Peace Plan—was no solution at all. For hidden away within this Peace Plan, and buried beneath all of their positive exhortations for love and peace and oneness, was another plan—a plan that was unknown—even to many of them. It was a plan to eliminate biblical Christianity and all of its followers. The New Age/New Gospel Peace Plan promised peace and safety to those who went along with their plan, but persecution and death to all who opposed it. And while this “selection process” was never publicly discussed on Oprah, Larry King Live, or Good Morning America, it was clearly documented in their New Age writings.
Widely introduced in the media after September 11th, the New Age Peace Plan was a definite sign of the times. The New Age Movement and its reinvented “Christ” hadn’t gone away; the leaders were moving full speed ahead. What had only been a theoretical New Age threat prior to September 11th was now a very real New Age threat—and it was coming right at the church.
Observing what was going on at the time, I tried to faithfully convey what I was learning about the New Age/New Spirituality and the emerging Peace Plan. The first edition of this book exposed the false New Age “Christ” behind the New Age Peace Plan. It also uncovered some of the key New Age leaders who have popularized his teachings in the world. I carefully documented how this New Age “Christ” and all of these New Age leaders were now on the same page and saying the same things. I explained how this dedicated group of New Age leaders had formed a single unified organization—the Global Renaissance Alliance—to push their Peace Plan forward.
Reinventing Jesus Christ also described how this New Age/New Gospel Peace Plan was purposefully designed to deceive the world and the church. My original book asked some hard but necessary questions concerning church leadership. Why had so many church leaders become strangely silent about spiritual deception and the New Age movement? Why were these same church leaders starting to sound more and more like their New Age counterparts? Were they being seduced by the very teachings they should have been exposing and renouncing? Had they somehow been blinded to what was really going on? Were they actually falling for the New Age Peace Plan and the New Spirituality? Were they unwittingly walking the church into a spiritual trap?
In October 2002, just four months after Reinventing Jesus Christ was first published, Rick Warren published his bestselling book The Purpose-Driven Life. What became apparent to me, after reading his book, was that he seemed to be leading the church into the very trap I had just warned about in my book. Deeply troubled by many of the things this popular pastor was teaching and alluding to—including his own “P.E.A.C.E. Plan”— I wrote Deceived on Purpose: The New Age Implications of the Purpose-Driven Church. It was published in August 2004.
Reinventing Jesus Christwas written and published before I had ever heard of Rick Warren or his “Purpose-Driven” movement. It was based on what I was observing in the New Age movement during the fall of 2001. It was a simple but straightforward warning to the church about the deceptive purposes and plans of the New Age “Christ.” But to this day, most Christian leaders still continue to ignore the spiritual deception that is in their midst. As a result, the New Age/New Gospel/New Spirituality has accelerated its move into the church.
In this online presentation of Reinventing Jesus Christ I have also included new updated material at the end of each chapter. Much has happened in the last four years. If Reinventing Jesus Christ is read prayerfully and carefully, one should be able to understand how a very real false Christ is effectively convincing the world and the church into accepting his New Age Peace Plan and his New Gospel/New Spirituality. Hopefully, by understanding the deception, the reader will be better equipped to stand fast against it.

I think we need to be careful not to overlook the attck on the freedom of religion (at least the born-again Christians) by the democratic party, the are whittling away at our freedoms, and attacking our churches and ministers in a manner never seen in this nation before. They are threating Pastors that say things outside of their 'religious doctrine' and even Nancy Pelosi's daughter made a documentry that was on HBO I believe that slammed 'Evangelicals'. They are afraid that we want to stop the things they like/enjoy like abortion, free love, etc..
So all I say is, be wary and keep an eye out, before we turn around and its too late, and we will have lost our freedom to get together as we do now.

I would also like to add, a vote for "all of the above" would my real feeling.

I would agree that everyone of these items are a major threat to Christianity, but it seems like, as others have stated, they all miss the biggest boat. To put it bluntly, as I have preached many times, these are all just SYMPTOMS, not the root illness. As any good doctor knows, to treat only the symptoms and not deal with the root cause if just an effort in futility.
So we then ask ourselves, what is the root problem? The best answer can be found in the old "Pogo" cartoon from the early 70's when it was said,
"WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US"
So therefore the problem with Christianity today is not truly the list as mentioned above, although they are definitely part of the symptoms. The root problem we have today is ourselves.
So what led to "US" being the root problem. We could go all the way back to the original sin in Eden, but to do so gives one a false lack of responsibility. We likewise share in this blame. What has led us, today, to be part of the root problem, I firmly believe that our ills today can be traced back to a root problem of biblical illiteracy. Yes, many in our churches today "know" the "facts" in the bible, but do they "Truly" comprehend it and, here is the kicker, do we actually LIVE as scripture tells us to.
So let's stop focusing on the "symptoms" and get to the root, Let's get our butts back in the WORD. Do this and mark my words, the list we grow much shorter as God works in our hearts to change the world.
