Oprah's False Gospel

I don't like Oprah's show. That's probably no surprise. Most guys don't. Judging from the hundreds of screaming women you see when the camera pans the audience, I’m guessing we’re not exactly the target market.

But whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying her incredible influence. Oprah’s endorsement can send a book to the top of the bestseller’s list or maybe even make a president.

It’s no different when it comes to her impact on people’s spirituality. Millions seem to hang on her every word and unblinkingly accept the teaching of each guru she hosts on the show. Though Oprah identifies herself as a Christian, her form of spirituality bears little resemblance to historic Christianity. Her brand of spirituality is not only vacuous—it’s dangerous as well. She teaches that every religion is equally valid and that God is merely a feeling or energy.

I believe we need to take Oprah’s influence seriously. Don’t assume that your wife and children aren’t being affected by her ideas. Her generous references to Jesus and God have duped many Christians into thinking her teaching is orthodox. Since she borrows language from Christianity, her New Age ideas are especially insidious. We must clearly delineate between Oprah-brand spirituality and true Christian faith. We don’t need to feel threatened by the Oprah machine. But we should actively counter her ideas and find “teachable moments” to show family and friends what true spirituality really looks like.

If Oprah has such an enormous influence on our culture (which she does), why not pray for her salvation?

"Father God, we thank You that it's always your will to bring people to salvation because Your Word has said that you desire all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. We lift up Oprah to you now, Lord God, and we ask that you draw her to Your Son Jesus and the cross of Christ. Speak to her heart, her mind and her spirit. Give her dreams and revelations of You that are fully in line with Your Word. Send Christians into her life that will represent you well and be a witness and a light to her. We pray for her salvation, Lord. Bring her to you we ask in Jesus' name. Amen"

Thanks, Pierre! I absolutely I agree with you. We do need to pray for Oprah. I hope that my post did not give anyone the impression that I have it out for Oprah. She does a lot of good through her humanitarian work. I also think she's a sincere person. She's just mistaken when it comes to spirituality and, unfortunately, she has a very loud voice.

I agree with Drew and I don't believe he was bad-mouthing Oprah. I felt Drew was warning us to be ready to defend the Gospel and God Almighty should we be faced with someone that has found "god" through watching the "guru-of-the-month on Oprah's show. The influence that Oprah would seemingly have says to me that there are thousands (maybe millions?) of people that are in search of something. They are in such a desperate state, that anything bitter tastes good (reminds me of Proverbs 27:7) to them.

It is definitely in order to pray for Oprah and all her viewers that hang on her every word. I must admit, I wasn't the first one in line to pray for her and her viewers. But I thank God that I still can say a prayer for them.

And it teaches us that we have to know the Word of God the more and be in right relationship with him so that we are not turned astray.

Oprah's humanitarian work and her sincerity is without question. However, I heard her stance on spirituality and about Jesus and I have to say, based on the Bible, that she is sincerely wrong. We are saved by grace through faith, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. We are in a spiritual war and we must earnestly contend for the faith. The adversary is very subtle in his attack so we cannot be swayed by good works. Any gospel that takes the focus off of Jesus is a gospel to be condemned. I maintain that Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life and that NO ONE gets to the Father except through him. Jesus is the only way to heaven and we can't intellectualize that for the sake of not offending the Oprah faithful.

I agree with you that Oprah needs prayer. What really concerns me how many people is she leading astray? Wnen you condenm the ONLY ONE who can take your sins were do we stand in Gods eyes.
Who taught Oprah this hatred for Jesus. This sounds like something like rev. Wright would say.
If that is the case this has been imbedded deep in her as well as Barak Obamah. Even if the right person got them saved, there is still spiritual baggage that has been there for years that has to be dealt with. Oprah beleives she is saved she would argue this sad.
I believe this why the parabe says:
One will One will left. this is dealing with the saved. I believe we must hit 50% of the church fully saved. Not just saying it but doing it. I beleive we are at 30 -34% right know.

Besides the things oprah has said contrary to the Word of God, her example of living with the man she IS NOT MARRIED TO sends another message contrary to the Word. Some people feel that generosity and works will wipe the sin in their lives and make it right w/ God. Without forgivenness and repentance (doing a 180 degree turnabout) God doesn't hear our prayers, let alone, our recognizing our good works.

For those of us that are born again believers, we should know that there is only ONE WAY to the FATHER and that's through JESUS CHRIST! All other teachings that are contrary to this is false and should be condemned. It's alright to pray that Oprah will someday see the era of her ways and give her life to CHRIST, but for now my prayer is for the LORD to destroy the works of this ministry.

Yes, her money does a lot of good, but don't let the subtleties and distractions of her finances keep you from discerning the truth. The devil understands the natural law of reaping and sowing.

Pray that she will come to know JESUS, but before you say amen and get up off your knees and get back to your daily routine, ask GOD to tear down this false religion, it is an abomination. It will only lead millions into an eternal Hell. Maybe even some of your friends and family.

And Obama has absolutely nothing to do with this. Blasphemers and sinners of all sorts are backing ALL candidates. GOD Bless you.

This is a sad development in the history of mankind..that a woman will know success and use that success to fight God and His only Son, Jesus Christ. We trully need to pray for Oprah. I've never known this side of her before, now I'm really concerned that she will use Christian talk to achieve her new age goals. May God have mercy on her soul and bring her to salvation. Lord, there are many souls that will be damned if Oprah is allowed to succeed in her new age crusade. I pray that you will bring your eternal power to bear against this evil crusade and cause the Light of the true gospel to shine in her and her ardent followers...This is Pray in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

It is a shame that we as "Christians" would take so much time to not only criticize but also JUDGE another human being. It seems that this is the new wave on Christianity. Shame on us!

I can't say that I agree with everything Oprah says or does, but it is not our place to judge her. GOD almighty says he is the ONLY JUDGE.

"The Gospel nor God Almighty need defending" The Gospel or Bible however you may call it is simply TRUTH, it needs no defending because it is TRUTH, Gods Truth. Certainly God Almighty himself needs no defending because he is GOD.

Goodness gracious, what we need to be doing is praying for our families, or churches, our leaders and sharing the love of Christ and teaching others how to do the same. Not wasting our time casting judgement and playing the role of GOD.

My question to all of you? Have you read the book? Here is my response to a friend who shared that video with me.

So sorry ****** but I have seen this video and frankly I don’t agree with it’s circulation because it really doesn’t have any TRUE foundations.

This video was not created with the “intent” to clarify Oprah's position on faith nor the book "A New Earth" based on Biblical truth, but to attack Oprah the Person and her political views. I certainly do not agree with such movement.

I don’t believe the creator of the video has even read this book, the truth is I don’t necessarily agree with everything I read in this book or any book for that matter. I take what is good and true for my life and apply it and the rest I set aside.

The great Theologians, aren’t great because of any one book, but because of the many books that they read in order to inform themselves and educate themselves.

As a believer, Christian, whatever the title may be, we must inform ourselves by doing our own research and reading. My question to those who created this video and to those who promote this video is: “Have you read the book?”

My personal experience is, that this book is not any new belief system, any new religion but an opportunity to open our minds and hearts in order to put us in touch with our spirituality.

It has made me aware of things in myself that I couldn’t understand before, it has made me a better person, a better friend, a better wife (that is why I am still in this marriage), a better mother, and an overall a human being that GOD can be proud of.

My suggestion, read the book go on line and take the online class!!! It will only enlighten you if you are READY!

That is all well and good that you can set aside the false doctrine and use what you call good, but many can't. And that is just how Satan draws men from God, mixing a little good in with his lies to confuse and disguise. And learning to be a "better" person can make God love me no more than He already does. He died for me when I was a low life sinner, how could He love me more than that?

And it is not Oprah, some book, or even myself that will make me a better person, it is God.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Don't confuse judging. It is not I that judges false teaching, it is God's Word

1 Peter 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

2 Timothy 4:1-4 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

This is the exact reason that God commanded the Israelites to destroy all remnants of the peoples He delivered into their hands.

Galatians 5:9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Thousands upon thousands are already praying for Oprah's salvation (google MasterMedia International for a "Entertainment Industry prayer guide")!

But she will need to turn away from her "false view" of God and "everyone will be in heaven" teaching.

She is lost and because she is outside of the "Body" we do not judge her; but we can judge her teachings, which are false when lined up with the word of God.

May God grant her repentance, becuase like everyone else, she needs a relationship with the One True God, Jesus the Christ.

Grace & Peace!

This is the will of God for His people: “that men ought always to pray, and not faint” (Luke 18:1, KJV). For it is through prayer that we can communicate with God: praising Him for who He is, thanking Him for all He has done and will do, laying our problems at His feet for Him to handle, and interceding on behalf of others (our families, friends, churches, communities, nation, and world).

We need prayer now and have always needed it. I agree that this whole mess that Oprah is promoting is extremely dangerous and that we should pray for her salvation and for her followers to hear and receive the true Gospel, before it's too late. This false doctrine that she and many others in showbiz and entertainment are preaching is the worst kind. It's so subtle and insidious because they're not standing behind a pulpit or witnessing on a street corner. Yet they are "preaching" nonetheless. And because of their power and position, they are very influential. They're false teachers and false prophets. Because this "New Age" message points people away from salvation and a relationship with the one true God through Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6, et al.), it is, in fact, leading people straight to Hell, which is the place of God’s wrath for those who do not believe on His son, Jesus Christ (Heb. 9:27; John 3:16-18; Rev. 20:11-15; et al.).

Prayer is sooooo important and I am learning and seeing more and more every day just how vital it is for our survival as people of God—both in the natural and in the spiritual.

This Thursday, May 1, is the National Day of Prayer. I know the power of intense personal prayer and group/corporate prayer. I've seen the results many times over! Can you imagine what could happen if believer everywhere prayed earnestly and in faith on a regular basis? If you can remember, please be in prayer on May 1 for this Oprah thing and whatever else God lays on your heart. My prayer would be that you would pray for souls, including Oprah's, and for God’s people to continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

May God richly bless you always! May His good and perfect will be done in and through you to bring glory and honor to His name now and forevermore! Amen.

Firmly In His Grip,

“11And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. 12I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. 14Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. 15 And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”—Rev. 20:11-15, NIV

God judges (condemns or saves) people. His people are to judge what is said and done:
Jude 4:
"For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." KJV
