The Calm in the Midst of the Storm

I’ve been reading too much news. It seems like I can’t resist or escape paying attention to the economy these days, and every time I do it’s just depressing. To be honest, I was feeling a little overwhelmed by it this morning as I was researching what to write about for the blog. Every story is about the crash of credit or the election (in which, of course, each side is blaming the other for the crash). I imagine many of you are feeling the same way.

Thankfully, I was reminded by a small, still voice this morning that my faith is not in capitalism or politics. My faith is in the Lord. So instead of a nice rant bemoaning the greediness of our materialistic culture, I thought I would get out of the way and let the Word of God do the talking, specifically Matthew 6: 25-34:

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

I pray that the Lord will protect each of you today and give you His peace.

I just want to thank you for that word from the Lord. I have been overcome worry about the Lord's return. After someone told my son that their church had figured out that Jesus would rapture us out on October 9th. I realize the bible says that no one will know the day or hour, not even Christ. Still I have worried about this subject for days now. Being a Christian doesn't always mean we are worry free, I guess that is why these verses are in the Bible. Praise God! I will put my worries to rest and live for him because he will take care of me and my family, he said so. Thank you.

This is my my concern. In my local church I here from the pulpit don't speak recession speak wealth. I am not agianst this saying, What if they economy does go worse. Your scripture is right. If you are a christian. Is the church as a whole ready to deal with a possible depression, Are we ready to deal with what is coming down the road. When i lost house the church wasn't there. I was on my own.
So are we ready, really ready?

the Rapture...i beleive in it. We were never meant to have heaven on earth once Adam and Eve sinned. It had always been God's intention to regain what he intended for us.
I know this world has to get worse before it gets better for us Christians who do believe in the Rapture and the Second Coming of our Lord.

In the meantime let us just fix our eyes on Jesus. This world is in a crisis, but we are in CHRIST JESUS and HE STILL MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!

He is coming for a church who are without spot or blemish...ones who have chosen to believe in Him as the Scriptures say...not what man says...The Word of God and all of it from Genesis to Revelation...
Maranatha!!!!!! Jesus is Coming Again.
